Fat Charlie or Charlie Nancy is the son of Anansi and the brother of Spider. He appears to have godlike powers and is the main protagonist in the Anansi Boys novel.
Significance in narrative[]
After Fat Charlie's father dies, Fat Charlie meets his brother Spider. After a fight between the two brothers, Charlie accidentally sends Bird after his brother. Fat Charlie discovers Spider was actually part of him. The two brothers got separated in their youth by a magical ritual. Spider and Fat Charlie make peace and work together at the end of the story to beat Tiger.
