Character Page Layouts

I'm setting up some standard formatting for the page layouts and would like some feedback. Currently, the idea is to create ONE character page for both the novel and the series characters. On that page, we will have a general overview of the character. We will then have subpages: one for novel, one for series, one for gallery.

On the main overview page for the character:

  • Background - any information about the character that takes place prior to the story
  • Significance in Mythology (if applicable) - if the character has a mythological counterpart (i.e. Mr. Wednesday and Odin)
  • Notes and Trivia (or should there be separate sections for this on the Novel and Series pages?)

For the Novel page:

  • Significance in Narrative
  • Physical Appearance
  • Personality
  • Appearances (in the novel)

For the Series page:

  • Throughout the Series
  • Physical Appearance
  • Personality
  • Appearances (in the series)

Any other headings? Any other thoughts or ideas for how to display this information? I'm welcome to any and all suggestions. This will be flexible and there will be more sections added as we continue building this wikia but I wanted to get the groundwork established first.

That's better at least. I still don't like how it's storyform, though. I want information, not story. If I did, then I'd read the book/watch the show.

I'm still not convinced it's a good idea to have one page which has info about both. I'm just concerned that non-book-reader fans accidentally run into major spoilers that way.

couldn't we have a tab for the book and then another one the show and just make a clear distinction?

That's the current idea. It will be one page with multiple tabs: one for overview, one for novel, one for series, and one for gallery. Here's an example of the tabs off the Rwby wikia: http://rwby.wikia.com/wiki/Blake_Belladonna

My bad, then I misunderstood u. Yeah that looks like a great idea!

This question/suggestion is not character related, but I couldn't find an appropriate spot for this post.

Anyways, what is the icon of this page? I mean when you open a new page, on the tab of the page u have a tiny image/logo and to one we have, what is it? Perhaps a red A or AG in the show's font would be better!?

My personal problem is that I have heaps of tabs open, don't see the title of the page only the logo and I keep having to go thru like 5 of them till I find this page. Simply cos I'm not associating that image with AG. Could we fix that?

Cheers!

Redlion!! Welcome back! :)

It's the buffalo skull picture but thanks for letting us know that you're not able to easily discern it at that size. Maybe Cmdrlexa or Czechout might find something better to replace it.

idk why but the favicon isn't showing up anymore. It was showing up at first when you changed it yesterday but now all I get is the default wiki favicon. The image is still there in the favicon section but it doesn't seem to be loading on the tabs.

I see it on my tab, it's nice, now it is obvious that this is the tab for American Gods stuff. Thanks Sparks!
